Newman Christian Community Church

ABOUT

Newman Christian Community Church is a family type environment where we care for one another and those in our community.

Our mission as a body of Christ believers is to guide people a step closer to God with the love of Jesus. We accomplish this through Biblical teaching, inspiring worship, faith based mentoring, and opportunities for people to use their gifts for service.

Our vision is to be a united body of believers who, through obedience to Christ, are committed to reaching and serving those in our communities.

  • Authentic Worship: Responding to who God is and what He has done and what He is doing
  • Prayer: Communing with God as we are in union with Him
  • Fellowship: Experiencing life together in Christ-Like Service by meeting the needs of others

Doctrinal Statement

  • We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as fully inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • We believe in one God (1 Corinthians 8:6), Creator of all things (Revelation 4:11), infinitely perfect (Psalm 18:30), and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
  • We believe in personality (1 Corinthians 2:10-11; Ephesians 4:30) and deity (Acts 5:3-4; Psalm 139:7) of the Holy Spirit, who is the author of the Scriptures (Acts 4:25; Peter 1:21) and the One who regenerates (Titus 3:5), indwells (1 Corinthians 6:19), baptizes (1 Corinthians 12:13), seals (Ephesians 1:13), and intercedes for all those who place their faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 8:26-27). He also sovereignly bestows gifts to believers for the building up of the church (1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:7-16).
  • We believe that man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death (Romans 5:12), but also that spiritual death which is separation from God (Romans 6:23), that all human beings are born with a sinful nature (Romans 3:10,23).
  • We believe that God, through His Word, has established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and that all intimate sexual activity outside of marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise, is immoral and therefore sin (Genesis 2:24-25); Exodus 20:14, 17, 22:19; Leviticus 18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16; Matthew 19:4-6, 9; Romans 1:18-31; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 15-20; 1 Timothy 1:8-11; Jude 7). We believe that God created the human race male and female and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one’s birth gender is immoral and therefore sin (Genesis 1:27; Deuteronomy 22:5).
  • We recognize and preserve the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death and thus are opposed to the use of induced abortion or euthanasia (Genesis 2:7; Job 33:4; Psalm 139:13-16; John 15:13). We must seek to lovingly restore those who have had an abortion. We must seek to stay informed on the issues with compassionate desire for the protection of life.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice and all who believe in Him are justified (forgiven and declared righteous) on the grounds of His shed blood (Romans 3:24-25; Hebrews 9:22). All who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by grace through faith are born again of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12-13) and only thereby become children of God.
  • We believe all who receive Christ are responsible to totally surrender to the Holy Spirit’s power (Romans 12:1-2), so Christ will be evident to all those around them (2 Corinthians 2:14-3:3).
  • We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), in His ascension into heaven (Acts 1:9-11), and in His present life and ministry there for us as our High Priest and Advocate (Hebrews 1:3, 4:14; 1 John 2:1).
  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Acts 24:15), the everlasting blessedness of the saved (1 Corinthians 15:52-53), and the everlasting punishment of the lost (Revelation 20:6, 14-15).
  • We believe in the imminent and physical return of Christ for His Church (1 Thessalonians 1:4, 16-17; 5:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Revelation 3:10), and in His return to reign on the earth (2 Samuel 7:5-17; Revelation 20).
  • We believe the Ordinances of the Church are Communion and Believer’s Baptism. The elements of Communion are symbolic of Christ’s bodily sacrifice and shedding of His blood for the forgiveness of our sins. The remembrance and celebration of Communion is open to all who know Christ personally as Savior (John 6:48-58; 1 John 2:13-22; Luke 22:19-20. Believer’s Baptism is by water and involves an act of obedience which is a symbolic identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:12; Romans 6:3-5; Galatians 3:26-27; Luke 23:40-43).
